When I saw that the tropical system in the Gulf was being named Beta I wondered what happened to Alpha. So I looked it up and saw this -
Then I looked at the current conditions there on Windy like the radar, and the current satellite -
So I was wondering if anyone can provide any insight on the naming criteria is that applied here. It looks like a pretty disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms. It formed in a part of the world that doesn’t even fit on the National Hurricane Center’s Atlantic Basin maps, at roughly the same latitude as decidedly un-tropical Baltimore MD.
I don’t mean to be sarcastic, I’m just wondering what differentiates Alpha from any other Low pressure system in the northern hemisphere.
