Breaking Strength
Check the wire gauge and then go to west Marine Catalog and see what the breaking strenght on that size wire is..using your Tension Gauge load the wires to within 5% of their rated breaking strength.Thats where you start..after that take the boat out and see how it sails.Note, the mast should have a slight rearward rake to it..and the mast should look straight when you sight up it for Port/Starboard adjustments. The worst thing you can do is over tighten the wires as you may damage the Mast step.loose wires are not good but less damageing.Once out on the water, play with the Rig a bit when pointing high and see where you need to set the Rig to stay..no two boats will be the same..so get a base and work from there.Pin turnbuckles when your done and wrap with rigging tape.
