I have been reviewing recent posts and you advise against using a polysilfide on some plastics. I presume this varies with the type of plastic since fiberglass is plastic also, isn't it. West Marine recommends Boatlife caulk for starboard and it is also mentioned at the starboard manufacturer's web site. What do you recommend for sealing starboard against polyester gellcoat? I was planning to use Boatlife caulk today, but will wait for your recommendation. Thanks. john

What to use on Starboard.

We recommend Life Seal for use on plastics. Life Calk is not compatible with carbon based plastics such as Lexan and ABS. We also recommend Life Seal for use on Starboard. It is recommended that the Starboard be "flame-treated" prior to the application of the Life Seal. "Flame-treating" means running a torch flame over the surface of the Starboard. One pass at moderate speed is generally sufficient.
