Typically youwill be beating into the trade winds which this time a year can be around 20-30 KTS so you will be close to gale force winds over the bow. Good thing is it should only take less than a day.

To Quote "Passages South-The Thornless Path to Windward"...this is a straight-forward "hard motorsail". Leave Bitter End on Virgin Gorda at 3 pm., when the sun is high enough to guide you through the cut in the reef which bears 64 degrees magnetic from Saba Rock. This will be 80nm minimum distance. Sail next morning up into Phillipsburg, or stop at Pelican Point in Simson's Bay. The hurricane hole in Simson's Lagoon is enormous and the summer stop of many hard core cruisers. There are slips available at the various condos and marinas in the lagoon. Phillipsburg can be a rolly anchorage and it can be a deathtrap in strong southerly winds.

Waoo.. 20-30 knots...looks very hard navegation. I went to Tortola on july 2010 and try to sail to St. Marteen..but I did not have enough time and the huracane season was on top ..! But now I certainlly should sail to St. marteen. So most likelly will have to do motorsail most of the way..? Departure from Saba Rock it is a passage through the reef..? or have to go all the way back arround Prickley Pear Island to clear fron the reefs? Please any hints..?
