Saildrive question

Does anyone know a parts source for OMC Saildrives? My father recently acquired a 23' O'Day that was filled with rainwater for several years. The exhaust manifold is shot; other parts also need to be replaced in order to resurect the engine. Can anyone suggest another model saildrive as a retrofit? If we go with an outboard, I believe we will need to reinforce the transom first.

Pete -You may have better luck with this search in a few months. Since OMC has been in receivership their parts operation has been on hold. Doesn't mean some dealermight not have what you need, but it could be a tough search for a little while. I was at my OMC dealer today and he told me things should pick back up soon. New saildrives are expensive. http://www.saildrive280.com/ is an example of a new unit.Reinforcing the transom is not as tough as it sounds. If you got a nice piece stainless and drilled it, you ought to be able to safely mount an engine.Justin - O'day Owners' Web
