Where do I find an S2 9.2 A Stern Life Line Stansion

I have a 1982 S2 9.2 A which was hit by another boat during a race. The port side vertical lifeline pole stansion near the stern was bent and damaged. My local boat repair guy is telling me the weld/repair may cost as much as a new one. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? The stansion system runs across the stern and up a couple feet up either side of the boat.

The original fabricator was likely in MI. I think it is written in the infamous S2 letter to owners.

Per the letter:

Bow rails, stern rails, swim ladders, stanchions

Many of our custom stainless steel components were made by High Seas, who has since gone out of business. These components may still be available from Tops In Quality, who acquired most of High Seas' patterns, records etc. You can reach Tops In Quality at (810) 364-7 1 50, fax (810) 364-7925.

I have read good things about Tops In Quality. However, I would consider a local vendor myself and have them make a custom stern to allow easier use of the stern ladder and/or to better allow later incorporation of stern rail seating. Factory stern rails for stern rail seats usually have a larger radius for increased comfort.

Sorry to hear about the damage. I guess it might be too much to hope for that the other guy will pay for it.

S2 9.2 A Stern Life Line Stanchion

I have bought a lifeline stanchion for my S2 9.2A and one for an Ericson 36C from Tops in Quality. I don't have a link handy but it will come up on Google. The quality of the parts I bought was up to their name and delivery was good. :)
