I have recently joined the forum and feel it will be a great deal of help to me and in turn, I have spent a lot of time making repairs and upgrades where perhaps I can shed a lite on a thing or two....

I have had my S-2B 8.0 boat for about 15 years. I may not express all components using their "technical names" but if you have experienced this, then you will know what I am talking about.

Over the past years I have removed my tiller from the rudder shaft "knuckle" and attempted to make adjustments between the top "knuckle" and the metal (plated brass) "Tiller handle end" attached to the tiller but, I have never fully removed this Knuckle before nor removed the rudder.

This fall and living in Wisconsin, I removed the knuckle and dropped the rudder as it has cracks and I need to do some grinding and glass work on it. I am also having a machine shop I work with, design some stainless rails to stabilize the knuckle with the tiller handle end.

Here is my question....the rudder shaft has a some plastic spacers/shims and one of these spacers has a "shoulder" that is inserted into the "shaft tube". Does anyone know where one could locate these spacer/shims?

Tour help is greatly appreciated!

It's called a nyliner made by thompson danahue. Available at a good industrial supply house. About $10 a pop. I'll try to find where I got mine a few years ago. I found it locally in Clevland.

Thank you both for your help. I'll Google Thompson Danahue an see what I come up with....this has at least given me some direction.

I have to rebuild my rudder, have you done any glass work and purchased vacuum bags for this...I have an HVAC vacuum pump

Thomson Nyliner can be bought at Applied Industrial Technologies. They have locations throughout the county. It's also on their website.

You'll have to know the shaft diameter. Sorry, I don't recall what mine is.

I checked into this too....Thanks for letting me know where to get it. The bushing is a
1 1/2" I.D. and it is a Type 5 Part number is a 24L24F. I am still looking for the flat plastic spacers that are about 1/32" thick. I am sure this can be located at Applied Industrial as well. Good Luck......Happy Holidays!

If you find a source for the spacer' let us know. I could use a few too.
