Has any one figured out how to keep the Catalina rubrics in place? It seems we are constantly pushing it back into the holder. Just getting ready to launch this year, it was in last fall and the whole port side is hanging down and out!!! ARRGGGG!!! Anyone have a fix???

re: rubrail out again

Is it installed upside down?
We got the boat when it was 5 years old (it's a 2003) and have not had the rail re-installed to my knowledge. I will check...is this common when it is in upside down?

My brother had a 86 C22 which had a new yard installed yinyl insert. It was placed in the extrusion upside down and the screws wouldn't let it seat properly. Doubt if Catalina did this. If the vinyl is beat up , have you thought about installing a new one ? Nothing says "new boat" like a pristine rubrail and new bottom paint!

Catalina 310 Atwood Lake
I have the same problem on my 2001 Catalina 310. Several years ago while visiting Catalina I was going to buy new rub rail but after a few different people got involved they told me a previous purchaser who worked there tried to save them money by buying the rub rail from a different supplier which resulted in the rub rail not fitting right. That means the rub rail they carry won't fit my boat. Their only solution is to replace the extrusion and the rub rail at my expense.

That would be a lot of work and a big expense. Last year I used a small amount of 4200 between the rub rail and the extrusion every foot for about eight feet and it didn't come off the rest of the year in that area. I plan to pull the rest loose, clean the extrusion and rub rail and use 4200 every foot for the rest of the length of the boat.

We do a lot of rafting with other boats and if the fenders aren't set just right the waves will cause the fenders to displace part of our rub rail and that gets very frustrating.

I do not know if your boat has the same problem but If you call Catalina and talk to Warren he may be able to tell you.
