Anybody have any info on the rack and pinion steering on the Hunter 450 Passage. I have never had this kind of steeering and it seems kind of stiff in moderate to heavy wind. I just want to make sure I am checking everything I can.
Are you sure this is rack a pinion steering? I have a Hunter 420 Passage, a 450 relative and this boat doies not have rack a pinion steering. However it WAS very stiff. It uses a cable in a conduit type system (not sure of the real name) but it's like having 2 large bycicle cables. It is now sold by Lewmar and requires a special grease and lots of effort to get it greased.. If this is what you have, contacxt me and I can perhaps help you improve your steering.
