Robertson AP200 Autopilot

Looking at a couple of different Mapel Leaf 42's one has a Hydraulic Robertson AP200 Autopilot any thoughts on these autopilots, our other 42' boat had a Course Setter 21 autopilot which worked very well. We will be keeping the boat in HI. Also they both have Hydraulic steering which we never have had any thoughts on this feature our other boat had chain and cable.

Robertson AP200

By most accounts, the Robertson pilots have been fairly reliable. Robertson was bought out by Simrad so you still should be able to get parts. As for hydraulic steering, I once owned a Formosa 51 with this setup - it worked fine but I prefer the feel of cable steering. That being said, there are many variables to consider so look 'em over carefully and consider the whole picture before deciding. Best of luck! Trevor
