I believe Ross's reference to ribbon anchor rodes in the thread about uncovered halyards was a jab at the guy who thought downward water pressure on the anchor rode was what stops a boat from moving. Well, they really do make a ribbon anchor rode. The "Ankarolina" material is like seat belt webbing. I chartered a boat that had one on the stern, where it sucked as a stern tie line because it doesn't float. However, it sure was easy to wind it back up the next day. We thought it might possibly be as good as advertized as an anchor rode, unless of course you need or prefer all chain. It's stronger than rope but doesn't stretch; perhaps not an issue depending on the length of chain it's attached to. I don't intend on starting a long discussion on anchor rodes; I just wanted to point out that ribbon rodes exist! ...RickM...

Rick, that's webbing not ribbon.

Ribbon is something that your daughter uses to tie her hair back. And some people (with their tongue firmly in cheek) advocate for anchoring a boat. ;)
