Sounds are hard to describe. Is it an electrical switch snap or a fan blade tick? How is the unit cooling? Check for a partial obstruction on the compressor water cooling system.
It sounds like a fan ticking but when I switch from heat mode to fan only mode
the sound stops.Water flow looks good. The unit is functioning in all modes.
I have tried isolate the sound, but when I remove the sette cushion the noise from the unit tends to dround out the ticking the closer my ear gets to it.
Some, heat pumps (reverse cycle ac) have ball check valves in the refrigerant circuit. they tend to roll and rattle until the system pressures stabilize. This may or may not be true of your unit. note, in this diagram there are 2 check valves. it's not amarine air unit although the principle is the same.
If eveything seems to be working fine I would continue to operate the unit under observation but it could be something as simple as burning off of a build up of dust and perhaps mildew in the unit coils. This can happen after a winter's lay up and should stop shortly after continued use. We have only used the reverse heater function about twice in the last 10 yrs so I had not thought about the snap, crackleand pop sounds which may come out of the heater after being laid up.
I'm going to the boat tonight for my midweek escape and will keep an ear on it.
The boat is new to me (3weeks) and we didn't hear this sound until last Saturday.
Mine ticks (like a time bomb) just before it starts up. After switching it on from the panel it has about a 10 sec delay and ticks during that time. Just thought it was normal.
I have a Marine-Airre unit that suffered a failure of the reversing valve solenoid. In my case, the clicking was caused by the failing solenoid. At the end, it chattered excessively and then gave up the ghost.
