My son and his wife have just this month been transferred to Sydney. I would love to get them involved with sailing/racing in the harbor. Do any of you know what clubs would be looking for non-hardcore crew for weekly races there and do you have to be a member of the club to crew? My son has raced on my boat and sailed a number of times, but not for about 4 years. His wife has been on a sailboat maybe three times. Thanks.

You will find that most boats will almost always take on crew. I would call or visit local sailing clubs and see if there is a regular racing schedule for the area. Just showing up at the dock on a Wednesday night in our area for our 'beer can' races will get you aboard. Check at the local marinas for skippers who might be looking for crew, also social media might help.

Sydney has 3 main water ways- Sydney harbour, Botany bay to the south and Pittwater or Brocken Bay to the north ( which is where i am). There are multiple yacht clubs on Sydney harbour and Alans suggestion is a good one- turn up at any of these clubs on their club race nights and you will surely get a sail. I suggest your family call up Royal Sydney yacht squadren and the Crusing yacht club of Australia- these are the 2 largest cvlubs on Sydney harbour and i am sure they will gladly provide days and times.
