I am the new owner of a Lancer 30-5 1985. There are several projects on the boat, but the one that I would like to get done sooner rather than later is replacing the hatch over the engine box. The wood is getting old and soft and as it is where I stand, it is a little problematic. Thinking about replacing it with 3/4" plastic, but the big question is how to secure it. I currently have bolts that screw into the deck, but the threads are worn and I want something that I can open and close easily so I can inspect the engine but that I won't trip over. Found some flush mount hatch dogs - that were $125/each. Any suggestions?
