I think some of you 40.5 owners have already done this and as I prepare to do the same i'm wondering how many tubes of Corning 795 caulk/sealant I will need for both windows (the long port and starboard) cabin trunk fixed windows, and what kind of hard rubber stops/spacers (material) did you use??

Thanks much for any input or suggestions,

Captron-
Did the windows on Emmanuel last year and I think used 4 tubes of the caulk. Be sure that when you put on the caulking you put it on the boat and then kind of goop it around so that you don't see any of the white fiberglass under the caulk. I am trying to remember where I got the spacers and I am drawing a blank. Also, once you put the goop on, install the spacers and the window, tape them in place with painters tape and cover with tarp. Let them sit until the caulk is cured. When you caulk around the window be sure to tape off. Also, watch that caulk. It gets EVERYWHERE and is hard to remove.
Good luck. I love how clear my new windows are!

Hi

I have a 410 down here in Australia. We want to replace ours as well, do you know if i can get replacement windows or is it something you need to have especially made?

If you want spaces you can get those stick on rubber/vinyl (bumper feet) that you put on stuff that sits on tables.

I had mine made (and installed) locally by a plastics specialist.

Look up any local plastics/acrylics fabricater. You pull your windows out and take them in for exact measurements. At least, that is what I did. I have no idea of the conversion rate but I paid about $350 for the two long fixed portlights about a year ago.

Hope this helps...

Replacement windows for 40.5

Thanks all for your suggestions I ordered my replacement windows from Hunter about a year ago and paid twice what the Princess paid:doh:oh well! but I didn't want to pull them w/o having the replacements ready to go.
Thought about picking up a retread scrap off the highway and cutting it to make the stops, but i'll look into the furniture bumper feet that might be easier and less dangerous.

LOL, yeah-the furniture bumper feet might be a bit easier. Too bad about the cost. I jut pulled them off and then tarped over the openings and taped them down good. Worked fine until the replacements came in. Good luck and I hope you like your new windows.
