to All,
have any of you successfully refilled a Plastimo olympic 135 compass. How did you accomplish this. Not sending it back as the rep emailed me and said "get a new one."
Thanks

Need to Replace

I inquired about doing the same thing. Compass expert said it could not be done - it is a cheap compass. The good news, you can buy a new one for about $130. Check the on-line stores - it is a standard issue. This type of compass lasts about 10 to 15 years in these northern parts. Good luck.

Have you had the compass out of the binnacle? There may be a grommet type plug somewhere out of sight when the compass is installed?
If not I'd drill a small hole in the top, back quadrant (where it would be covered by the sunshield) and fill with mineral spirits. A small plug or short plastic screw to seal the hole.
Good luck.

I have taken it apart and there is a membrane across the bottom which appears to be glued and screwed with a plate to seal it tightly. I have not yet tried to lift the plate and inspect the opening into the compass. I think drilling a small hole and sealing it is safer
