Reef point

Does anyone what the height is from the boom to the reef grommets for the original sail on a fin keel standard rig? I purchased a sail from North and I think they made a mistake. I asked them to install two reef points. The first would basically be a flattening reef and the second just a little above the original reef point. They installed the second reef so high that I doubt I'll ever use it.

Typically reef points are placed so the first reef point for the 22 would be at 3'-4' the second would be 7'-8'.
A flattening reef would be a single kringle placed about 6'' to 8'' above the clew kringle. Flatteners only only
worked in the bottom 3 rd of the sail.
From what I have seen so far the factory sails are deeper than they should be and most sailmakers are
not making the mainsails flat enough, and most owners don't use enough rig tension on the boat.

I strongly agree with what odj said.

Most of the sails Ive seen on these boats are way to fat.
When Mariner made new sails for us last year we went with
8-1/2% camber at 33% chord.

Ken and I handled a 25 to 30 knot wind a few months ago.
Reefed main alone, and very comfortable.

Stock sails seem to run 10 to 12% camber.
That's just too much belly for these boats.
