A few weeks ago, someone explained that the last 3 digits of the hull number define the year made and the model year. For examle, "687" identifies a 1987 model that was made in 1986. My O'27 hull number ends in "574". My title lists it as a 1974. Does this mean it was actually made in 1975? Furthermore, I saw an O'Day on this site that ends in "674". What would be the point of making a 1974 model in 1976? Happy Sails to you, until we meet again...

Here ya go . . .

For starters, check out http://boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm Now - The last two numbers of the HIN are the model year. The numbers preceding indicate the year of certification for that hull type. The group before that is the production number, which may or may not match a sail number. The first group is the MIC or Manufacturer ID. Justin - O'day Owner's Web
