...in non-spin A in my Legend 40.5. This is a 105 NM annual Marina del Rey to San Diego race. I have done this race eight times, and was the only Hunter for years. Now there are more and more represented, usually in the Cruz categories, but you sometimes see the 40's in PHRF. They rate about 80. My 40.5 is 111 for this race, adjusted from 102. So, that makes four starts and four seconds in the San Diego and Ensenada races in the last two years, with two different crew, so the boat is at least consistent. This year was a particularily pretty race with a full moon and clear skys. Had a 1120 start and finished at 1023. Decent wind pretty much all the way, lightening about 0130 as you'd expect. Off Point Loma in the AM is always a drifter and this was no different: four miles = three hours. We powered back to Long Beach then took a week in Catalina. BTW, word has it that they are down 30% over last year. Probably power boat and fuel related. Rick D.
