I am trying to decide how to mount my 6.6 evinrude to the transom of the day sailor. I have removed a home made mount that was safely bolted through the transom. I have looked at the swing down type, but will require bolting through the hull where I am unable to use a nut. and will have extra holes. I could have a shop remake the old mount to match up with existing holes. Currently the motor drags all the time. The swing mount seems to be adequate except for the bolting?? Suggestions please, comments. Thanks Acubist1@aol.com

Which Daysailer is it?

Rick - Which iteration of the daysailer do you have? The transoms and aftdeck are different depending on the year. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Outboard on Daysailor

If your daysailor is less than 21' long, I suggest you sell or trade your 6 HP outboard for a smaller 3-4 HP motor. Johnson/Everude made a dandy 2 cylinder outboard that weighted around 35 lbs. I use a Johnson 3 HP (2 cylinder) on my O'Day 22 for many years.
