May have the option of buying a 1984 Saildrive. I purchase a 1979 8.ob last spring. Would this 1984 Saildrive work as spare parts or replacement of my 1979 8.ob. Present saildrive running o.k.

Most parts will likely cross between the two units if the only difference is age. There are likely to be a number of minor differences.

You might try the Yahoo Saildrive group. Lots of knowledgeable folks there, and the group is pretty active. I think BobM is right, though...there were various OMC Zephyr models, but the differences are likely minor.
