OMC Saildrive Control Panel

On my 1980 8.0 S2 I have a toggle for the choke, a key switch, and a push/pull switch for the blower, but what is the pushbutton on the saildrive control panel for?

Usually it is the starter button. Turn the key push the button.

However, the key switch is setup like an auto ignition switch. There is "On", "Off", and "Start". Turn the key to start to engage the starter.

if the button is red in color it may well be the stop switch if you have a diesel engine......
