Has anyone used a roller fuler for their asymetrical?...I know, I can already see the inbound bricks! I have installed a 5.5' retractable bow sprit on my boat that I will use to fly a 1200sqft akite. If I'm racing short handed and the breeze increases this might become a handfull for the short crew to deal with. Rolling in the akite and turning back upwind would be a very easy maneuver. Rollgen makes such a thing and recommends it be flown off a bow sprit. The only problem that I can see with it so far( and it's a major one) is that you cannot adjust the tack line. If I can figure a way to make it adjustable, I might give this thing a shot. OK, I know I'm asking for it,....'what do you think???' *!

On his 380 Hunter. He put it on the anchor roller which hung out there quite a ways. As I recall it was a single line furler. He used it single handing. I did not crew with him, so I can't relate firsthand how it handled, but he said he liked the arrangement well. He was an engineer, so I imagine the thing was dialed in well. He's since moved away and sold the boat, so I can't follow up. Rick D.

There are special furlers for Assym

The attached link takes you to the Harken site that has a special roller furler for Assyms. Its just a top and a bottom, no foil. Markdb

what's wrong with a sock?

I use a "sock" for my asymetrical, suspect I can "snuff" it quicker (and cheaper) than a furler. We don't use the sock for racing, but I sure do for cruising, alone or with crew.

Yep, that's exactly what I decided. If we race short we can use the sock. Talked to the folks at Falcnor today. Their furler is for code zero, maybe an APS but definately not for a runner.
