I have a 1993 33.5 that has an light/buzzer system for the oil pressure control. I would like to install an oil pressure gauge and would like to know what parts I need to purchase and instructions on the installation. Can someone help me here, please.
Thanks
Canuck

Well if you eliminate the light and buzzer and put the oil pressure
sender in it's place and will also need a gauge but than you are depending
on the pressure gauge for you to know if oil pressure and will not have the warning buzzer to alert you.
Or some one will tell you to use a tee to use both but let me tell you
what happen to me when I did the tee system which was great the first year
but one day I did notice the oil pressure gauge was on 0 as I was motoring
and good thing was right in front of me to see and for some reason the warning
buzz did not work and no alert.
What happen was the brass Tee cracked off and all the oil was all over the place and if not for the gauge right in front could have blown the engine.
I don't have a oil pressure gauge on my 07 H-36 and pretty sure most don't seem to have oil pressure or temp gauge but do have warning buzzers for both.
I check my oil every time each day I plan to motor and also check the ante freez every time also and change the oil often also.
But I did add a temp gauge and did it safer with heavy brass tee into the hose going into thermostat and been working good.

Re: Tee

Because of vibration issues with diesels I would quietly recommend avoid brass fittings altogether. I would recommend stainless. Swedge lock SS fittings and tubing are more reliable and very easy to use install. They are also less susceptible to cracking and creating the problem you describe. They are not cheaper than brass but they are cheaper than an replacing/overhauling an engine. Another thing I would recommend is to install a valve in the system and then open the valve only a turn or two. The valve in this position will prevent the gage from getting pressure shock from sudden oil pressure changes from changing the engine speed.

I have a 3gm30f and added an oil gauge. See attached picture.

You don't have to remove the existing sender. The thread is BSF, so you will need an adaptor to allow a NSF threaded sender.

Good luck.

In the photo above, is that a temperature sensor in the t fitting in the hot water heater line? This looks like a great place to mount a temperature sensor. I don't think 2gm has the spare oil port... need to look again.
Thanks
Dan.

CORRECTION: In the shop manual it looks like the hot water line attaches below the thermostat, meaning the water is constantly circulated through the water heater and is at the temperature of the cooling jacket water. No wonder the water gets so stinkin' hot... d'oh. I deleted the incorrect stuff out of my post... no reason to post incorrect info.

What are the part numbers used and could you please tell me where you purchased the parts.
Thanks

My set up is is a little unusal as I have the sender connected to a nmea2000 converter so that the pressure/temp info is diplayed on my chart plotter.

Woodster gave a good suggestion. I just wanted to point out that you don't need to remove the exisitng yanmar sender.

What do folks use the capped "T" for on the hot water line (output to the heater)?

It is a temp sender in the 'T' so that the engine cooling temp is displayed on a gauge or chartplotter.
