I am 99% on my way to be the new owner of an O'day 26. As far as I can tell everything checks out and should know by the end of the week.
I have seen many videos on raising the mast using gin pole or a frames. When the previous owner dropped the mast, he said they just used 3 or 4 guys and basically let it down not using anything but brute strength.
My question is how hard is it to raise the mast? Is this something that is pretty straight forward? I need to have to boat transported from the owners yard to the ramp. Should I step the mast at the ramp while still on the trailer? Should I launch then try to do the mast at the dock?
Any help would be great. Also if anyone here is from NE Mass (Gloucester), could you offer help for a fee to launch and tune rig? Just looking for any help through all you experienced sailors.
