Can you give us some details about yourself? Previous boats owned, for example? Did you have your S2 surveyed? If so, what were the surveyors recommendations? What sort of sailing are you hoping to do with her? What updates are you already expecting to do?

We have had several small boats but none we wanted to spend a weekend on. The boat is in good condition to sail etc.
Elect is ok
Engine is ok
Sails ok
Lines will need replacing in a year or so
Fresh water system ok

The inside has only been used as storage and as such needs lots of TLC.
I need help with cleaning, refinishing floor, head, airconditioning and heating (not much heat needed since we are on the lower Texas Coast), entertainment, stove needs replacing, sinks are dirty and crusty? lights, fans, cooking, storage.

I have heard that staying even just overnight on a boat is a different world, but a great one if prepared.

I want our boat comfortable and fun.

Air conditioning? Lordy! I'd hook that up and run it a while to dehumidify the interior. A picture or description of the head and the waste storage (usually under the bench directly aft of the head) would help. Barkeeper's Friend should take care of the sink. You may want to replace the hoses for the head, if they're several years old. How's it smell below decks? I'd recommend replacing the interior light bulbs with LED units. I get them on ebay for five or six bucks a piece, if I remember right. Is there evidence (stains) of a lot of water having been in the cabin?

Great to hear the major systems are in good shape. Simple Green isn't a bad general-purpose cleaner for a lot of the cabin (but not the wood!).

Make liberal use of the search function. Everything on your list has been done by somebody out there, often with some nice photos and discussions.

Note that if your sole is damaged it may be due to leaky packing on the rudder post. Mine is damaged by the galley and I eventually traced it to that. The water can come in from a follow sea and make its way forward attacking the end grain of the teak sole if it wasn't sealed.

AC on a small boat is a challenge and really nigh impossible if you are staying on a mooring and not in a slip, due to the huge power requirements. They make portable marine units that sit in the forward hatch http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc..._10001_752457_-1?icid=HF4_AC_0809#showReviews and some people have used both window and home portable units (with a long hose). The most convenient my be the home portable unit, as you could put it in the space in front of the navigation table and it would be pretty secure. That is pretty much "dead" space on my boat anyway...not that I need AC in Boston. Then you could make an extra companionway board with a place to attach the vent hose to. Might be kind of loud though.

Word to the wise, the wiring in your boat is antique too. Before blindly plugging an AC unit into one of your outlets you would be wise to go through the wiring from soup to nuts before you burn your boat down to the waterline.
