I just bought a 1981 Macgregor 25 and the previous owner installed a hommade Keel that he said was built to specification from MacGregor. However the keel does not raise all the was and posses a problem when launching the boat. Is their anyway to buy a used keel or fix this one?

First of all you have to determine why
the keel can't be fully raised. Only then will it be posible to figure out what needs to be done to correct the problem. Obviously it wan't built to MacGregor specifications because it doesn't fit.

Macgregor keel
On my old Macgregor, the keel never went completely up into the trunk. It was angled to about a foot out at the stern end. Check some pics of Mac 25's on their trailer to see how the keel sat.
