Just picked up a 1969 or 1970 26 foot Columbia...Title is in the mail so I'm not sure of the year yet. This boat is on the Chesapeake Bay. I have moved the boat from Herrington Harbour North to Breezy Point for the winter. I am looking for local Columbia sailing groups that have a forum on line. I have lived in Maryland all my life. I used to race 420's off the Severn however I have been sailing a 1965 SouthCost 23 day sailor out of Breezy point for the last 2 years. I picked up this Columbia and sailed her 6 hours. I loved the way she handled however I did run her aground on the first trip....Not good. I have been part of the SouthCoast on line sailing group where I ran into Doug Middleton and we both picked up Columbia's at the same time. I see Doug has found this site before me....He is located in the Choptank. If anyone can direct me to a Columbia sailing group that is local to Deale, Chesapeake Beach, Shadyside area on the Chesapeake please let me know. Thanks Ralph _/)

Welcome New Columbia Owner

There is a Columbia group here in Maryland that arranges raft-ups and luncheons and other get togethers. Most of us hang out on the Sailnet Columbia list. In about February every year we have had a saturday or sunday luncheon in Columbia, Md. Roy Kelman (a Columbia 26 owner) is usually the instigator. Roy keeps his boat in the McClusky yard (northpoint). My C36 is in the Harbor View Marina in the inner harbor. Bob's 8.7 is in White Rock Marina, and there are more in the area. Kip, Beth, and Little Cam have a C36 up the Magothy in Severn. Eric has a C40 in Pirates Cove (Gaylesville). Currently I plan on getting out on any weekend day where the weather is dry and above 50 degrees. You would be welcome to join Roy and I on Wolf's Den (my Columbia 36). You can email me directly via cam@columbia36.com. Cam Whetstone s/v C36 - Wolf's Den altimore, Md. USA

New Columbia Owner

I am in Deale at Paradise Marina and will be moving to Herrington Harbor North in April. I think I talked to your wife at HHN when I was checking on my slip reservation. I was checking Breezy Point for a lift out. The manager said they are very shallow now - not supprised you ran aground. I'm sure I'll see you when the weather gets warm! Ned Tyler C-8.3 Sara T

New colombia owner in Norfolk

I just bought my very first sailboat, a 1968 Colombia 22 #686, we are in portsmouth va, the boat is located in the wiloby marina right now but we have plans to move it. We will be taking sailing lessons in the spring, and so look forward to getting out on the water, meeting new colombia owners and gathering a wealth of information about our new boat. My husband was surfing the net and found a listing for boatspecs, when he looked at it it was an original ad for a colombia 22....the amazing part was the hull #......#686.... a real rush to see your boat on the ad....
