I have a crack behind the mast step in the deck that seems to be some sort of stress fracture. i have read in this forum that this is not uncommom (somewhere in the neighbor hood of 5 to 10% of the 170's have it) Is anyone aware of a permanent fix (mast step support fixture)that Hunter has designed? I am capable of manufacturing one (unless Hunter has already)if it is understood what causes the problem. It seems that Hunter must be aware of the cause and the proper way of fixing it besides drilling holes, dremeling a vee groove and fiberglassing every year. Any knowledge of this would be very helpful.

Hunter can help with cracked hull

Hunter Composites can be very helpful. Is yours still under warranty?
You should be able to find a link to their site here - they are now down in Florida, and they will talk to you on the phone, and if covered, will repair or replace for free. THye also give gteat advice.

Good luck!

Repair it

Some of the older boats (Made in CT) didn't have the holes predrilled for the screws, this would start a crack. If it is repaired, it won't come back
