I want to install a mast hinge, for the single purpose of depriving the marina of the 190 bucks that they charge to step, or unstep the mast, each time. The Sabre has a long foredeck, and would seem to lend itself well to this application. Problem is finding a prefabricated hinge. I have googled,Jeeved, and otherwise searched the internet, and no mast hinge. I did find one on Ebay, only to lose it, when the auction closed a 6 am, to a bid $1 over mine. Any idea as to where I might find this animal? I really don't want to go the machine shop route. Fabrication is $60 an hour, and the shops around here just aren't marine minded. Larry Wilson

Try Dwyer

Not sure if it'll be the right size, but you might try here: http://www.dwyermast.com/items.asp?cat1ID=40&cat1Name=Hardware&familyID=18&familyName=Hinges

Unstep the mast yourself

Most yards will let you use their mast crane. And its the job of a few hours for two or three people. My wife and I took our h27 mast down and put it back up for the winter haul out in our previous marina for 3 seasons. I have not heard of a hinge for that large a boat/mast. David Lady Lillie

Dwyer part number

My Ericson is considerably smaller than your boat but the mast is a beast, and the Dwyer part #2150 (the largest hinge they made two years ago) fit perfectly. It cost $55.45 then. My mast is a 6.5"X3.25" section. Good luck.
