FIRST, I have to say a BIG THANKS to Winkfish (on this site) for stopping y and taking Jill and I around the area!!! That was SUPER!!!!

OK, so it might not be a real magic marina, but sure is a bit spooky!

We trailed Guenevere to here at Seabrook Marina and yard in New Orleans, La. We got here on February 16 to be able to be at Mardi Gras. At the same time we were checking in, another LARGE new power boat was trucked in. We were both in the office together and said our hellos. A couple of days later, the owner of that boat was getting ready to depart (before Mardi Gras!) to get to his home marina further east. I was sitting at the office checking e-mail when he walked up wearing a ball cap from an aircraft program I was on a long time ago. I asked if he was on that program and he said yes, so we started talking and he asked if I knew another guy who had out of the blue volunteered to act as crew and help deliver. DID I, I SURE did!!! We had been buds over 24 years ago!! Working on the P-3 program, traveling and SCUBA diving in the Bahamas together! We had a great, but to short, catch up.

Now that would be a fluke. BUT....

They had to move us out of the shed we were in for one (1) day we were here. We were again back at the office using the e-mail, a couple came walking up and the lady said 'You need a haircut”. WOW WOW, it was Gordon and Susie of S/V Sprite from the Sea of Cortez! We have not seen them in about 6 years!!!!! They are now in an RV with there power boat in Alaska. They parked in an RV park next to us here in Seabrook and as they drove down the drive, in that one day, saw Guenevere parked sideways in front the of the shed and found us. We spent a couple of days catching up talking about old times.

You can see that haircut we talk about on Youtube at; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCN9t4N_IdQ&feature=share

What a yard this is! If you lost contact with any one, stop by here, you might just catch up with them!

AND, the people here are just GREAT! They have done a LOT for us to make sure we are well taken care of. :)

We expect to be here for a couple more weeks as we finish up the boat and exploring the area.

Too bad the weather didn't cooperate on Mardi Gras day. I'm certain you had a good time anyway. New Orleans is a unique place, especially now when the culture seems so homogenized. It's nice to see a distinct and different culture nearby. Drop me in downtown Atlanta or Houston, and I couldn't tell the difference, but when you're in New Orleans, you know it. And, somebody might tell you where you got dem shoes.

I can't believe I spent 4:57 of my life watching two guys I've never met and will likely never meet get haircuts. Maybe it's the fun, maybe it's the scenery. It was worth every second.

How fortunate for you to meet up with old friends. Amazing how impactful these types of situations are... and you are going to be there for a couple more weeks. They say things come in threes...be prepared:dance:

Seabrooke is indeed a great place.

However not the most scenic marina in the world... :)

Greg and Jill,

Glad y'all are having a good time. We got back from the BVIs - great trip - so we're back in working mode now. (Still dreaming of the Soggy dollar Bar!!) I'll PM you to touch base. It was great meeting you guys. Always good to put a face with the names (notwithstanding your avatar, by which I'd never have recognized you!)
