I’m thinking by adding a block at the masthead (or thereabouts)
Yeah, no. The masthead is only supported by the backstay, and there could easily be quite a bit of lateral strain when flying the spin.

I wouldn't install a spin hoist any higher that 1-1.5 feet above the forestay, and even then I wouldn't push the envelope.

No doubt that is a cool mod. I’m cutting a ‘window’ into there tomorrow and see what’s doing. Thanks for all the replies and keep em coming if you have suggestions or comments.

I'm almost certain that the anchor locker bulkhead can be opened without cutting. I think it is screwed in with tabs. You should be able to pull it out after you remove a few screws.

But I could be wrong. I used to own a Mac 22 and there was no forward bulkhead. But on all of the boats I've owned that did have a forward bulkhead, there was a way to open it.

You are mistaken. Many of us, including myself, have had to cut an access hatch in that location.

Best Regards

Thanks for all the replies. I took Rgranger’s advice and went with #8 bolts for the flange plate. I used some gasket material I had for the backer to the patch. There was a bunch of styrofoam blocks in the space I cut open and ended up using them to support the patch until it cured. I haven’t added the butyl tape and nuts yet because I need someone topside. Btw I used one of those oscillating saws and it wasn’t a great experience. I’ll clean up the cut and make a panel to cover the hole.
