The Lewmar electric winch on our 1999 380 leaks gear oil out from under the drum after we winch up the main. It is enough oil that it runs out on the surface and it can get on hands or lines around the winch. We wipe it up with a paper towel. It is not winch grease. We have redone the grease according to specs and the three other winches do not have the problem. I took off the access cover below in the aft cabin and everything seems OK there. All bolts are tight and there is no leaking gear oil present. Any ideas? Thanks

Oil Leak

we Had a oil leak that dripped oil from the electric motor and ran out of the accsess cover to inside the cabin. Nothing ever came out from under the drum. Tightining the bolts that hold the oil resevior on seemed to fix that problem. Yours might be leaking from the shaft seal between the drum and motor. Andrew Hansom

We had the same thing....

....on our 410 leaking down the cockpit wall, but also leaking into the inspection cover in the aft cabin. We got in touch with the Lewmar rep and they replaced the whole thing under warranty. So give them a try. Cheers Gary
