Lewmar 42 inch folding wheel

We have a problem with our 42 inch Lewmar folding wheel. The 2 halves of the hub don't fit together evenly and as a result the spokes don't fit firmly and the wheel flexes fore and aft. We have an Edson pedestal. Lewmar has given us another wheel under warranty and this one has the same problem.
Many of our friends have smaller folding wheels without the same issue. Theirs are very solid feeling with their Edson pedestals.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, we're you able to resolve it?

Alice. We too have a 42" Lewmar folding wheel and have had similar flex issues. We solved ours by taking it to a small fabrication shop that can weld stainless steel. They were able to re-tack weld the spokes that unfortunately are easily broken when pulling in the wheel during rough weather. Lewmar probably should of had a larger hub (for bigger weld spots) on the 42" wheel. We have now resorted to a cruising wheel and a heavy weather original wheel.
