Has anyone had to replace the Legend 40.5 anchor rollers? There are 2 a large one in the front and small one in the back. Before I go have one made was hoping for a simpler answer.

Hi NotFast,

The anchor rollers are a problem. Hunter will manufacture them, they are an oddball size, that is, unfortunately, that are not a regular offer by the more reasonably priced manufacturer's of replacement anchor roller wheels.

We are working on it, but would appreciate your help if you could confirm the length and drive hole, or pin size.

One customer purchased the more common 3-3/8 inch length, and trimmed it down with a band saw, reported good results.

Why do you need replacements? Have the originals broken up?

I have a chum who keeps his H 356 in the Mediterranean. The high level of UV caused both of his WHITE rollers to become very weak and brittle and they literally fell apart - so I made him two more on my lathe. This time we used BLACK polypropylene rod as having better UV resistance.

Ditto that. I used a trailer roller that I cut down.

Dave,

The width of the bow roller channel is 3 1/16" and I have used a roller that is 2 7/8" with success see the picture below. The diameter of the forward pin is 3/4" for sure. I am pretty sure that the pin that holds the aft roller is 3/8". I know that the common rollers for trailers that can be bought economically have a 1/2" hole and when used in the aft position with the original pin there is a lot of slop.

The forward pin is definitely 3/4". Last year I machined two shouldered bushings that fit into the hole from the outside with a 1/2" thru-hole. Using these two bushings I used a standard roller that I could readily buy and pinned the roller with a 1/2" bolt. The pictures below show the bronze bushings that I machined with a common roller with a 1/2" hole and a stainless blot that held the assembly in place.

For the aft roller I simply used a standard bronze bushing that was 1/2" OD and 3/8" ID. Using that bushing the standard rollers had the proper clearance while still using the 3/8" aft pin.

I do think I remember running the sides of the rollers on a belt sander to reduce the width to about 2 7/8". But that was the only modification that I needed to make to the roller itself.

Thanks to you all for your advise and insights. Looks like I need to figure this one out. BTW, Rich's measurements are what I am measuring except the rear on mine seems to be able to work with 1/2" hole in the roller.

The 1/2" hole in the roller with the 3/8" pin works. But it is just pretty sloppy.
