Ihave a 79 Hunter 27 and i love it but i was wondering if it was worth going to the expence of roller furling as compared to getting a larger boat with rf already on board and with more standard equipment. is this possible with a 25 to 30 thousand limit.

not comparable

You can get a CDI FF6 for around $500; the kit to install it for $120; alter an existind sail for $150-200. Total: $820 and install it yourself. Less than the excise tax on the new boat in my state. If you want a new boat buy it, but not because you don't have a furler.

It'll only raise the value of your boat

Ok, so it won't raise it $900 (probably) but you have to look at that as a factor. Also keep in mind that CDI is inexpensive but it is also the lowest model you can get. You can go pretty high on RF to get super top quality, including getting a specially cut sail. But that's not necessary, just depends on what you want. I personally wouldn't spend $3000 on a new RF & sail on that old of a boat. The investment wouldn't be realized before I moved up to a larger boat. LaDonna

Roller Furling etc.

kd, It sounds like you really like the hunter 27. I would not let the lack of a furling system make the decision. If you like the boat, put a furler on it. This will increase your enjoyment as well as the value. On the other hand if you want a bigger boat I don't think the addition of a CDI furling system woud increase the value beyond the cost of the system. Save the money to put into the new boat!
