25.5 information

I have a 1984 25.5, I bought it about 2 years ago and didn't get that good of a price. I LOVE the boat, it's very fast, fun for a family of 4 to camp on and easy to maintain. Mine is an OB version also. There is alot of information on the owners reviews section. You can email me directly if you have any specific questions I might can help you with. My boat does have a small bilge pump but I've never had even one drop of water in the bilge unless one of the kids spilled it!! Larry lcribbs@worldshare.net

I Like My 25.5

Kimberly, If you are looking for boat in the 25' range that is great for family weekends, easy to handle and with great performance, you found the right boat! Please read my review in the Boats section of HOW. What sails are with the boat and where do you intend to sail? What other equipment is installed or included? The price is within the reasonable range for a well-equipped boat in excellent condition. Bear in mind that its 13 years old and a professional survey would be a good idea to make sure there are no $$$ hidden problems. Just about all '80s fiberglas boats were prone to blistering due to the fiberglas resins in use at the time. Dick Vance H-25.5 "Honey Bear" The 25.5 did not come with a bilge pump. I installed an automatic pump under the floorboard next to the dinette and ran the drain hose through the starboard locker and out the stern.

hunter 25.5

Hi Kimberly, I just bought a 1985 25.5 and I did not get that good of a deal either. My boat is inboard with a Yanmar 1GM. I do have a bilge pump but I think it was installed by the previous owner. Most of the water that I get in the bilge is from the cooler (which drains into the bilge). I am really please with it so far. I found that the 25.5 had far more cabin room than the Catalina 25 that I was considering.

The BEST 25 out ther

The 25.5 is the best 25 ft. boat out there and better than most 28's. I am very happy with our 25.5 and had thought of going up to a bigger boat but with the operating cost being 2x's more decided my 25.5 was just perfect. We sail on Lake Erie with and stay on the boat every weekend from now till the end of October with a week in July and it is a great boat. Faster and bigger and better than a Catalina 25 and maybe the best all around performance boat out there. When you consider cost, room and how fast they are. I think on PHRF we have to give almost all 25's time. Execpt for the flat out race boats. Cliff

you will like the 25.5

We have owned our 25.5 since it was built. We picked it up at Hunter. They are most helpful in helping you locate small replacement parts. Lights, stop blocks etc. Ours has Maxwell self tailing single speed winches and do the job fine. Maxwell also offers food support. The only problem we have had is the forward part of the hatch takes on rain water. I believe this part is just hollow. None ever drips in the cabin. You may want to check this out. Never any water in the bilge and it did not come with a pump either. The price seems within range. Smooth Sailing, mayona

25.5 affirmations

Greetings I just bought a 25.5 and just finished my first voyage in it. Round trip from panama city to applachicola... and it all worked well. I have the two speed winches and a bilge pump which empties a sump. The sump drains the floors as well as the ice box. I don't frankly understand why a drainline was run to the sump when the sink drains through the hull ... they could have just tapped into the sink drain but then I am not a nautical engineer. But at some point I will do so. I found the Origo's efficiency astonishing after I figured out how to light them ... and miss a shower but coming from a catalina 22, its an astonishly good boat. Over the weekend, I made a couple of screens for the hatch and the companionway ... it slides into the rails and with a bit of weatherstripping, it doesn't rattle. It looked so good I had requests from other boaters to make them some. Maybe I've found a sideline. (hmmm) Mine came without an outboard and I bought a honda 8 hp 4-stroke which moves it nicely at 5 knots +. In the hundred mile trip, most of which was under motor, it burned about a half gallon an hour all in all, the boat is terrific and I can sense a lot of possibilities. regards from Panama city, frank
