We spent last week on our 1990 Hunter 30, and noticed some odd behavior on the water pressure/pump breaker. When shutting it off, the indicator light fades very, very slowly. Eventually, it took up to five minutes to go completely out. I tried shutting the DC panel off, and then just the house battery, then both batteries, and it still remains on, then fades. If power is shut off to the whole panel, how can an indicator light remain on, then fade? From where is it getting power? Dean Strong s/v Synchrony

indicator light

the motor's capacitor is probably bleeding off through the light. i've seen lights do this many times. never really thought about why.

Dave is correct

I believe Dave is correct. There is some capacitor attached to the line that is bleeding power to the indicator lite. A motor starter could certainly do it. It is nothing to worry about. It is very common with large power amplifiers in audio systems. The power supplies included in such components can power an LED for quite a few minutes.

Circuit overlap

Hi Dean - The posts below are good suggestions (i.e. the motor capacitor can take some time to bleed off through a low amp LED bulb). I would also look for ground loops and loose connections - there can be an overlap between circuits if they are wired very close together. Take a look to satisfy your curiosity but I wouldn't be too worried about it. Best, Trevor
