Working with a group on completing a steel hulled schooner. The hull has significant corrosion issues that need to be addressed and likely have multiple causes.

Anyone have any experience with a surveyor who has experience and is ABYC certified as a corrosion specialist in the Northeast. Vessel is in Central New York.

Please PM me with any recommendations.

Thanks.

Dave,

I would contact Michael Kasten at Kasten Marine and see if he can recommend anyone or the Metal Boat Society. MBS also has a forum you could ask on. You really need to go to where the metal boats are, and the folks who work on them & own them, to find the most qualified individuals.

I do some corrosion work on metal boats, mostly large commercial boats, but metal boats are nowhere near a specialty for me.... You ideally need someone who is both an electrician and a corrosion specialist who focuses mostly on metal boats.

I've yet to meet a surveyor who was corrosion or electrically savvy enough that I would trust them on a metal boat. I am sure they are out there though, if you dig deep enough. You just need to dig in the right spots...
