Notice of Race Hunter 23.5 National Championship Regatta Johnson Lake Yacht Club, Lexington Nebraska. July 9-10-2005 Rules: The regatta will be governed by the current racing rules of sailing, The prescriptions of the U.S. Sailing Association, The Hunter 23.5 class rules ( except as any of these altered by the sailing instructions ) and the sailing instructions. The Johnson Lake Yacht Club, and the Hunter Association recognizes the possible variations in sailboat hardware and some small variations in sails. This National Race will be sailed using stock hardware placement. ( You can change the blocks, but not where they mount on the boat. ) You may use other than stock sails, but, no larger than 260sq. ft. ( This is 6sq. ft. bigger than stock. ) The sails will be of Dacron only, and no Spinnakers. All boats will have outboard motors, anchors, and other safety gear onboard while racing. The name of the game this year is to have fun, and keep things simple. Schedule: Saturday July 9th 0730 to 0845am Sail and boat measurement (if needed). 0815 to 0845am Registration. 0845 to 0900am Skippers meeting. 0955am warning signal for 1st race, followed by 2nd race. 1325pm warning signal for 3td race, followed by 4th race. 1830pm dinner at home of Ernie French Sunday July 10th 0855am warning signal for 5th race, followed by 6th and 7th race. One hour after the finish of the last race we’ll have lunch and awards. Fees: The regatta fee is $50.00. Reservations for the Saturday evening dinner will be available at registration, ( approx. $8.00 each). Trophies: top four places will be awarded, small medallions for 5th to 8th. Sailing Instructions: The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration. Scoring: The low point scoring system of appendix A will apply. Seven races are scheduled on July 9th and 10th, if fewer than 7 races are completed, then no races may start after 1500hrs on Sunday July 19th. Regatta Location: Johnson Lake, on hwy 283, 7miles SW of Lexington, Nebraska. Interstate 80, exit 237. ( Mid Nebraska ). Regatta Headquarters: Lakeshore Marina Resort, North side of Johnson Lake. Accommodations: Plentiful tent and trailer campsites are available at a State Park site on the lake. Limited slips and mooring are available for the boats. Modern cabins at two locations around the lake are available or a Holiday Inn Express and other motels located 7 miles away at Lexington, Nebraska.
