Hi, has anyone tried to put additional weight to the center board( keel) of hunter 170 to improve stability, to sail alone less stressfully, or replace the blade with inox one , filled with plumb?
You may want to check out the Archives under H170 and search for keel. I know early 170's had a still lighter keel and some weight has been added. This is discussed at length in the archives. Good luck.
I sail my 170 almost all the time alone. If I think the wind is getting too high I'll just reef or most of the time I just roll up the jib. The boat loses a lot of power without the jib and is easier to handle.
