My boat has a grey paint over the white gel coat, from the water-line up to the deck. The paint has worn away in a few (large) areas. What paints do other owners use and suggest?

Get someone to look at it . . .

I agree with the other poster that Awl Grip is an excellent way to have a boat painted, but you need to make sure that whatever you put on top of the existing paint is compatible with what's there already. Awl Grip needs to be professionally applied. If you want to do the work yourself, check out Interlux's topside poly. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Sand it off

I had a similar problem with my 1977 O'Day 27. I have green gelcoat and the previous owner applied a clearcoat of some sort. The clearcoat was peeling and looked awful. I sanded it all off and compounded and waxed the gelcoat. It's much better.
