Our 1999 Hunter 380 was just launched, filled the fresh water tank and starting running all the water to get rid of the "pink stuff". About 5-10 minutes into it the hot water hose under the sink in the head just popped out of the grey L shaped plumbing fitting. I plugged it back in and just keeps popping out again as soon as I turn the water presure back on. How the heck is that plastic tube supposed to stay in there? Thanks

Was a compression fitting never installed?
Parenthetically, it's a waste of money and antifreeze to put it in the tank(s). Just remove as much water as you can next time - the remaining water, if any, will have plenty of room for expansion.
Remove the feed hose to the pump and put it directly into an antifreeze jug to pump through the piping and faucets. That will save you money, time and antifreeze and be just as effective.

I can't imagine it never had a compression fitting and finally now popped off after 13 years. But what else can it be? Thanks and thanks for the fall commissioning tip!!

They don't travel far - should be easy to find if one was there.

Once had a house in which we decided to remodel a room and found one of the pressurized copper water pipes was never soldered. the imagination boggles at some of the things builders (don't) do.

If this is the grey plastic hose then look closely at the female end. there is a small "ring" that will move about 0.5 mm with the hose not in place. It lockes the hose in place and you get the hose to release by pushing the ring toward the female part.
Perhaps the ring is gummed up or broken. They have them at Home depot in any case.

Bill, yes, its the grey flexable hose. The tip is perfect, no sign of ever being glued, compressed or anything else. So this ring is inside the grey hard plastic L shaped coupling then. I'll stop at Home Depot this week and see if I can find them and guess the right size. Thanks

you have to push the tubing in far, sometimes it seems it is in but it isn't

I had this issue this year because I disconnected some when I winterized and they took some pushing to get them all the way back n so that the spring fitting would grab it

Thanks Don, that would be the easiest fix, I did not force it so the fix may be that simle. I think the boat gets bounced around a bit in the launching process so it may have been enough to pop it out.

Hey, Jack...

Consider fitting a bypass siphon valve between the tank feed into the water pump and the pump itself. They're available at most RV stores and make putting antifreeze into the lines without having to put it into the tank a lot easier winter commissioning task. See pix--it's the brass thing just to the left of the water filter housing (it's placed between the filter and the pump in the water line run).

I made a ball valve adaptor that fits onto the siphon threads (capped in the pic) and now use it to flush out the lines with dock water rather than filling and emptying the tank a few times. Makes Spring commissioning a whole lot easier too.
