I am replacing the corroded aluminum holding tank mid ship on my 430. Ronco makes a plastic one that is 12 gal that will fit in the space I have. it has a greater slope so may be a little difficult to securely tie down. Vetus makes a flexible holding tank 14.5 gal. which will also fit. Who has experience or recommendations on either type of tank?

I would get the plastics one and use foam pads etc to fill in the extra space to hold it secure so it doesn't rub on things.

I don't what people say; the flexible tanks for anything other that water to me is asking for a problem when (not if) it someday leaks!

I echo Don Lucas' position. The few bladders I knew of were on Shannons. The folks that had them replaced them with plastic.

When Peggie Hall was writing the Head Mistress columns, she always recommended PVC.

My 1987 h40 had an alum aft tank. It rotted out and leaked into our stateroom. Alum holding tanks are something I classify as a mistake. But you already know that. Oh, we replaced the alum tank with a custom PVC.

We had a new waste tank made for our 1991 42 Passage by Triple M. They used the print from Hunter to make it! It fit great and it is plastic. I'm not sure if it is PVC or PE. it is made out of sheets and welded together. I think you could walk on it and not flex it. I am very happy with it. Looks like I may be needing a mid ship water tank soon. And I will have them make it also.

Bladders do not let O2 mix with the 'stuff' nearly as well as tanks. That's important to keep the good chemistry going. They are OK for potable water, but for black get a tank.
