I have a 2006 423 and the helm has a very annoying squeak that I cannot get rid of. I have lubed everything including shaft and the pulleys and cable, it gets worse when weather is warm. Anyone had similar problem, any suggestions?

I had an annoying squeak years ago on my 331. It turned out to be the top of the rudder rubbing on the hull as I turned the wheel. It was a small spot that I was able to sand down. When my boat is out of the water, the rudder will slide down the rudder shaft a bit. It looks like there is plenty of room between the rudder and the hull, but when my boat goes in the water, the rudder slides up the rudder shaft and gets much closer to the hull. I noticed a bit of extra fiberglass near where the rudder shaft goes into the hull. When I sanded it down a bit, the squeaking went away.
Same issue with my 323. It sounds as though it's coming from the wheel shaft itself. I have removed the binnacle and lubed the bushings, but it didn't help. It didn't matter whether the boat was on the hard or in the water in my case. I have taken up the cockpit floorboard and cleaned everything underneath and that has not eliminated the problem. It's really annoying when the autopilot starts to hunt if the boat isn't trimmed as well as it should be.
Had similar sounding squeak on our 1997 B 321 noise was from where wheel spindle entered the pedestal (bearing in there) sprayed a couple of times using McLube dry spray lube noise gone.Now spray once a season.
