Hello to all Columbia owners. I am looking forward to someday getting to gether out on the water with other Columbia owners here in the Southern California area (maybe Catalina?) I presently just own a Columbia 22 but am looking to move to a bigger boat. I will stay with a Columbia when I make the move as I am so very pleased with how well mine was built and just how great she sails in all types of weather. Hello Eric, So sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, My computor took a crash dive and could not get on the internet. Sounds great, am always looking forward to sailing and sharing any information. This after I noticed last weekend that my little 22 whould have a nice heel to it in a 15 knot breeze but was not going anywhere. Of course the 100 or so pounds of kelp wrapped around the keel didn't help either. But any time after that would be good for me, so let me know. I have a Columbia 28, 1968 vintage at Dana Point harbor. Just in process of replacing the Atomic 4 (rebuilt of course) so should be back to sailing in a few weeks. Also having bottom cleaned as I think most of the life in the bay is now hanging on my boat. Plan on sailing down to San Diego someday as I have a good friend with a boat there. Will try and look you up. good sailing.

I may buy a 1967 22
I am trying to locate any dwgs, tech data or info for this 22. Very well maintained, tho hasn't been hauled in 4-5 years - some minor cracks at corners - stress pts, also slight leaks around windows. Will look at trying polyurea to fix leaks

C 22: Any Quirks?
Hey, Michael I recently purchased a Columbia 22, 1970 hull 1303. I haven'tgot it wet yet, it's been sitting on a trailer for about five years. Is there any suggestions of things I should be aware of. It's in excellent condition, no blisters or cracks. How do they sail? I'll mainly be on Lake Michigan which is frequently a little choppy, but there's always wind. I've got two mains, three jibs, a 180 genoa, and a tri radial spinnaker. It seems very light so it should be a quick boat. Can I realistically expect 5-6 Knots? Any suggestions would be very welcome, this is my first boat since learning to sail. Thanks, Jack

You migh also check out the two major columbia lists one at Sailnet.com, and the other at Yahoo E-Groups. A question on either will generate a lot of responses, and usually quickly too

I think the C-22 is Just right. I love the way it sails. But I havn't been able to keep it headed up into the wind very well, even with the main sail alone. It wants fall off. The other thing I'm wondering about is the motor well. It is causing turbulance in the wake on a good run. I'm wondering if this hole isn't producing a lot of drag. There is only a depth sensor in there. Would it block this instrument if I fiberglassed over it? I launched this boat last Saturday. What a great experience! And I've been sailing it every day since. The cable nearly parted while backing down the ramp, though. I used a 50' line to extend the trailer tongue and it was about to part when we blocked the wheels and took the strain off. The boat and trailer would have probably kept going to the other side of the cove, as steep as that ramp is. I'm very thankful that we avoided any undue excitement that day. The Reni-Bee is now riding peacefully at her mooring along a rock jetty.

Motor for Columbia 22
My Columbia 22 is a beautiful boat and I love her (much more than my other 17 k power boat). Please see my article on the right size new motor which will fit in the well. I can get almost no help from dealers. I woluld appreciate any help any of you could give. thanks
