I know I've seen this question asked recently, but I can't find it in the archives. I have a 93 Hunter 33.5 with a manual head. When you try to flush on wet bowl the handle is hard to push/pull and will not bring up water. However, It seems to woek fine on dry bowl. What could the problem be? The head is made by Jabsco model # 29120-0000.

Headaches.

Check Peggy Hall's head mistress archives for the best information. If its been a while since the head was rebuilt, could be the problem. But first, try a little head lube (I read mineral oil works) around the pump piston rod and bowl -- does wonders in my bowl. If your boat in in salt, your discharge loop could be clogged, run a 10% muriatic acid mixture thru it, a couple minutes between pumps, to break up the crystals. (Flush it out thoroughly when done). Have you checked the discharge vent on the bottom for marine growth clogging the in or out thru hulls?

Failed dry/flush valve

Contact Par/Jabsco for a replacement part.

Bryan, all good suggestions, but...

The big clue in this problem is that his head works fine on "dry," but not on "flush." If the cause were anything but the dry/flush valve (assuming that he HAS made sure his seacock is open...duh??? :-} ), he'd have the same problem on either setting. It's also useful to remember that there's been a whole bunch of dry/flush valve failures on Par heads recently. So I'm fairly certain that what it is.

open seacock

Thanks for the info, the first thing I checked was the seacock it was open. I intend to call Jabsco as soon as they open and order new parts.
