[thought the following might be of interest to the forum...]Blaise,I finally found a use for that cockpit loading hatch -- I mounted the entire cold machine system on it! I mounted the evaporator horizontally on the underside with the open end facing the stb side of the boat and the compressor on the top side. Works out very nicely for the install and the entire system can be easily removed as a single unit if ever necessary. I plan to seal the hatch in place (probably with 3M 4200 and a few screws) so that it can be removed. I also plan to add more insulation to the upper surfaces of the icebox -- the molded fiberglass "well" portion of the box seem reasonably well insulated but the entire top is nothing more than about 1/2 inch (or less) plywood. We just completed a week long cruise from Bradenton down to Cabbage Key and the system worked fine except for running a bit more that I would like...which I assume is due to less than adequate insulation.FYI,CurtisAt 05:18 PM 9/18/00 -0400, you wrote:>Curtis,>Get the small vertical evaporator, and mount it on the forward bulkhead in >the icebox.
