My H260 trailer brakes are locked. The empty Magic Tilt trailer will roll backward easily but won't go forward. Also noted that the actuator appears to be partially activated making the coupler too small to take a ball. What gives? I did not get a owners manual with my trailer.

I'm a little confused?

The Magic Tilt trailer comes with drum brakes so it is possible that they are locked up in only one direction, solution is to take the drum off clean the shoes and drum looking at the slave cylinder to make sure it doesn't bind and the springs are in good shape. The look at the surge actuator is free to move its full travel, normally you can activate it with a large screw driver through the top. The surge actuator is set up for a 2 inch ball only, partially activating the actuator should not have any effect on the size of the ball. My best suggestion would be to replace the whole braking system with disk brakes, that way you don't have the problem of corrosion locking them up. You can get the parts for the conversion at Northern Tools or any trailer parts place, don't forget to buy or modify the actuator for disk brakes. You can see what I did on my brakes in the photo forum under Hunter 260 LKYusnret. Hope this helps. Baums Rush

Brakes

If memory serves me correct, there should be a thin cable threaded into the top of the actuator. When trailering, it is hooked to the tow vehicle to apply the trailer brakes in case of a hitch failure. I would make sure it is fully inserted in the actuator. As far as the forward/back thing, drum brakes are much more efficient moving forward. If your's are partially applied, that could explain what you are seeing. Best of luck, Bryon
