Two questions, can anyone steer me in the right direction for smaller(5 ft. or less) gear hammocks. West Marine's product reviews are less than stellar most times, just looking for some. Safety netting has too large of holes, looked at that avenue. I just took out the pressure alcohol stove and would like to retro fit with propane, but do not want to run line from stern box clear to stove. Bear in mind I was a hvac tech and have been installing furnaces and stoves in close to 100 fish houses, so think I have it mostly down. Just do not want to run line, sensor and all that for 15 ft. or so. Thought I would keep stainless basket(for lack of a better term) and mount 2 burners from a BBQ grill, this way I can use 1 lb. cyl. that is also on stern rail. Want stove inside also for rainy, crappy days, etc? Has anyone come across a good fit? Don't really want to order stuff and find it don't fit. Heading to hardware store tomorrow, but town of 18, on hand inventory is very limited. Any ideas would help. Thanks,Bob

You may need to read the AYBC standards on the stove thing it is important to know about the safety aspect of what you are trying to do...propaine is heaver than air and will migrate to the low point in your boat and if you happen to strike a spark or a flame you could blow your bohonkas to kingdom come so proceed with caution.....obtw welcome to the forum...as far as the net issue go to a net shop or the inter net and you may have some luck there .......be safe and have fun...

Might ask our kind hosts about the length of these in the SBO store: http://shop.sailboatowners.com/prod.php?17043

On the stove, many trailer sailor guys use propane camping stoves. Also, the non-pressurized alcohol stoves work much better and are much safer than the old pressurized jobs. I have an Origo 2 burner portable and love it. Picked it up at a flea market for $50.

I was using a butane 1 burner (worked well and CHEAP).
Got one similar to this for $22. I've seen them since at a Chinese store for $20. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Camp...=58017909191&gclid=CNzX5b-n1boCFQLl7AodR0oAXw

Choices and Options

I know a little about the stove fuel choice / situation. On our prior boat I replaced the original Optimus Kero stove with a propane stove (and also the Force 10 cabin heater).
Whole nine yards, as they say... remote shut off with solenoid, vented overboard tank compartment, etc. All up to safety standards, etc.

Lot of work. The two burner cooker was great, and we enjoyed it for almost ten years of summer cruising.

Then we moved up to the present boat and it came with an Origo 6000 series range. At first we thought we would change over to propane... but after a couple of years of use we lost interest in changing. The non-pressure Origo is so safe and easy to use that there's just no reason to go through the hassle of 'propane-izing' another boat.

You might want to seriously consider the Origo.
Cooks and bakes with no problems. For a smaller boat needing only a two burner stove, it would be especially easy to install.

My experience, FWIW.

Loren, I completely agree with your assessment of the total propane issue. Our boat has zero inside storage(which is good) and having to run line w/ shut-off solenoid did not seem prudent. Really thinking a lot about the 2 burner camping stove, just use the burners and controls, venturies, etc. I am able to mount said equipment and use the 1 lb. canisters and refill them from 20 lb. tank that will be mounted on stern rail locker. I already have a magma grill with the 1 lb. fuel source, so this is, as I stated earlier, just a back up for foul weather days. I can extend bottle hook-up about 1 inch on right side(facing it) and be able to remove cylinder when not in use. I was just wondering if anyone has done this re-fit and with what brand. Was in town this a.m. and believe I will have to buy a complete grill for about $50 and use what I need and deep six the rest. Easiest and cheapest meat hod I have found so far. Easily store 6 small cylinders about anywhere, keep the 20 lb. just for nurse tank, refill when-ever easy. Any better ideas out there? Please let me know. Thanks again, Bob
